Local roundup: Claire Alexander tosses no-hitter for SW

South Williamsport’s Claire Alexander tossed a five-inning no-hitter, retiring the final 12 batters she faced as the Mounties defeated Sayre, 16-2, in high school softball. Alexander struck out six Sayre hitters and walked just three in her no-hitter. Rachel Stahl drove in a pair of runs for South, and Gianna Godfrey and Lauren Sullivan each drove in a run.

Muncy cruised past Sugar Valley for a 16-1 win in five innings. Rory Oden scattered two hits and Nicolette Johnson had a monster game offensively. Johnson went 2 for 2 with a double, an inside-the-park home run, five RBIs, three stolen bases and four runs scored.

• A.J. Llorente hit a solo home run, but Montoursville committed eight errors in a game against Shikellamy, 9-3, when it was suspended in the fifth inning because of rain. Josh Burger drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors.

Alex Neidig and Ryan Rischoff both drove in a pair of runs as South Williamsport posted an 11-0 win over East Juniata. Makai Day and Sam Hostrander combined on a two-hit shutout. Day struck out seven in three innings to pick up the win, and Hostrander didn’t allow a hit. Rischoff was 2 for 3 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring two more. Neidig was 1 for 2.

Cru Stover threw a five-inning no-hitter and Central Mountain won its eighth straight game, blanking Williamsport 5-0 at Logue Field. Stover struck out five and Kaden Falls was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs. Aidan Major added an RBI double and Cy Probst had a hit and two RBIs.

• In boys tennis, Muncy defeated Loyalsock, 3-2, in a rain-shortened match that only saw one contest go into the second set. Kaleb Meyer won at No. 1 singles and Ernie Coppes won at No. 2 for Muncy. Loyalsock’s Liam Bastian earned a win at No. 3 singles.

• Alex Koontz scored a game-high five goals as Lewisburg erupted in the middle two quarters for a 17-5 boys lacrosse win against Bellefonte. The Green Dragons scored six times in the second quarter and eight more in the third to take command. Collin Starr added four goals for Lewisburg and Rowen Martin had three.

• Ella Reish led all Lewisburg players with five goals and five assists in a 16-4 win over Bellefonte in girls lacrosse. Roz Noone added four foals and two assists, and Sophie Kilbride scored three times with three assists. Serena DeCosmo, Ella Koontz, Tori Vonderheid and Talulah Rice each scored a goal for the Green Dragons, and Keeley Baker recorded nine saves.

•The seventh-seeded Lycoming College men’s tennis team fell to second-seeded DeSales University, 5-0, in the MAC Freedom Championship quarterfinals. Sophomore Nate Redell’s match was left unfinished after Danny Lynn won the first set 6-3.
