Jerval Weeks-Shuler gets time for Pennsylvania in Big 26 Classic vs. Maryland
St. John Neumann’s Jerval Weeks-Shuler played in three games this past weekend for Pennsylvania in the Big 26 Baseball Classic at FNB Field in Harrisburg.
Pennsylvania won the first two games, 10-6 and 13-0, before losing to Maryland in the third game, 9-8.
Weeks-Shuler pitched an inning for Pennsylvania, striking out two and issuing just one walk in the first game. He also had an at-bat. Weeks-Shuler had two at bats in the second game and was walked once. In the third game, Weeks-Shuler batted twice with a strikeout.
The 6-foot-1 Weeks-Shuler played as a left-handed pitcher and outfielder for Pennsylvania in the Big 26 Classic. The showcase featured top layers from both Pennsylvania and Maryland who will be graduating in either 2022 or 2023. Weeks-Shuler is an upcoming senior at St. John Neumann and helped the Golden Knights win the District 4 Class A championship this past spring.
In the spring, he hit .459 with seven extra-base hits and had 27 RBIs, scored 43 runs and stole 32 bases. He also had an impressive .633 on-base percentage and nine times had a game with multiple hits.
As a pitcher with Neumann, Weeks-Shuler had a 1.14 ERA, struck out 61 in 33 innings and went 5-2 on the mound.
