Local roundup: Shore’s Dincher makes school-record 8 3-pointers in Shore girls win

Peyton Dincher put on a shooting display Thursday in Laporte, making history along the way. Dincher drained a program-record eight 3-pointers, scored a career-high 28 points and helped Jersey Shore defeat Sullivan County, 60-26. Dincher, a freshman, scored 22 points by halftime and made six 3-pointers during that time as the Bulldogs (6-5) built a 21-point halftime lead. Jocelyn McCracken added eight points and Cailyn Schall seven as Jersey Shore won its second straight game.

Claudia Green scored 17 points and South Willamsport played stifling defense as it overcome a sluggish offensive performance and defeated Meadowbrook Christian, 37-19. Aleigha Rieppel added 10 points as South (10-1) won its sixth straight game. The Mounties did not allow a fourth-quarter point, closing the game on an 11-0 run to pull away.

Northeast Bradford defeated North Penn-Mansfield, 46-18. Mansfield was held to just three points in the first quarter and nine by halftime.

North Penn-Mansfield was led by Payton Chapel’s seven points.

Taylor Rae Jones scored 16 points, but it wasn’t enough as Williamson lost on the road to Athens in a Northern Tier contest, 58-28. Williamson was held to single digits all four quarters as Athens held a 39-13 lead at the half.

Athens was led by Emma Bronson’s 17 points and Caydence Macik’s 12.

• Williamsport had success in both girls and boys swimming in a tri-meet against Shamokin and Hazleton.

On the girls side, Williamsport’s Lyndie Peters won the diving competition with a score of 201.95, besting teammate Adelia Engel (199.70) just two days after the two competed against Lewisburg in which Engel won.

Mallory Pardoe came away with two individual wins, swimming a 55.99 in the 100 free as Molly Garrison took second (1:01.14) and swimming a 1:03.72 in the 100 back, edging teammate Kendall Cohick (1:07.67). Cohick picked up a win in the 200 free with a time of 2:12.73. In the 50 free, Sydney Kelley won in 26.04.

The boys 200 free relay was an exciting finish as both Hazleton’s Cole Johnson and Williamsport’s Keller Griswold touched the wall during the final leg at the same time as both teams finished in 1:37.90. The Millionaires’ team was made up of Cal Hockman, Jaden Rankinen, Nate Wiley and Griswold.

Griswold won the 100 free in 50.79 as well, beating Hazleton’s Antonio Daiute by just one second. Griswold also picked up an individual win in the 50 free by finishing in 23.31, winning by 0.83 seconds. Dayvon Boyd won the diving competition with a score of 190.65.

• Muncy defeated Sullivan County in high school wrestling, 48-10. Ty Nixon defeated Porter Dawson by decision for the Indians at 160 pounds, 4-3. Muncy’s Jacob Fowler pinned BRyan Hope in just 36 seconds at 152. At 189, Muncy’s Jacob Cooley had a 1 minute, 32 second pin over Tre Powell.

Sullivan’s Rocky Finnegan pinned Ryan Driscoll at 120 in 1:32.

Milton hosted a tri-meet in which the Black Panthers swept Loyalsock (48-23), Midd-West (51-11) and Shamokin (60-18). The three wins for Milton come after back-to-back losses at the hands of Warrior Run and Selinsgrove. The Black Panthers host two more duals before the postseason against Montoursville and Shikellamy.

Against Loyalsock, Christopher Doyle pinned Gavin Rice at 189 pounds in 3:18. Loyalsock’s Carter Secora pinned Luke Roup at 215 in 1:35.

Aiden Keiser (152), Alexander Hoffman (160) and Mason Rowe (172) picked up consecutive decision victories after a forfeit started the match against Midd-West.

Milton’s Mason Rowe pinned Chase Thomas at 172 in 3:01.
