Crosscutters defeat Mahoning Valley at Bowman Field 5-0

The Williamsport Crosscutters defeated Mahoning Valley, 5-0, at Bowman Field on Saturday afternoon for their second consecutive shutout. The Cutters had six pitchers combine for the shutout effort.

Riley Ornido earned the win on the mound, striking out two. The win was his first of the year.

Third baseman Daniel Harris led Williamsport by going 2 for 4 with his first home run of the season, adding an RBI single in the seventh and had two runs driven in. Austin Marozas started on the mound for Williamsport, throwinga scoreless inning to set the pace early. Easton Sikorski followed with three scoreless innings, four strikeouts and just one walk.

Williamsport scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and took advantage of three Scrapper errors. Williamsport didn’t commit an error defensively as Williamsport’s pitching staff forced 14 groundballs.

Williamsport hosts Mahoning Valley on Sunday afternoon for the final game in a homestand at 4:05 p.m. It’s the last game at Bowman Field until Tuesday, June 28 (vs. West Virginia).

Williamsport is at West Virginia for a three-game series Monday-Wednesday and then at Mahoning Valley from Thursday through Saturday.
