PHOTO PROVIDED Loyalsock's senior baseball team won the District 12 title over Montoursville to advance to sectionals, which Loyalsock will host.

Loyalsock cruised past its rival Montoursville, 17-2, in just four innings to capture the District 12 senior baseball championship. Loyalsock won the title at Montoursville.

Deryk Kulp threw four outstanding innings, striking out seven, walking just three batters, allowing only three hits and giving up just two earned runs. Kulp also went 3 for 3 with two doubles three RBIs and a walk. Chase Wright went 3 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs and Kayden Keefer was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a double.

Montoursville was led by Caden Jolin, who went 2 for 2 with an RBI, and Todd Crawford (1 for 2).

Loyalsock will now head to the Section 3 tournament, which begins on July 3. Loyalsock hosts the sectional tournament, which also features District 13’s Warrior Run and District 15’s Allegheny Mountain. The winner will advance to the state tournament, held in DuBois.

Defending champion Clinton returned to the District 12 major softball title game with a 14-2, four-inning win over Hepburn-South at Mutchler Park.

Maesyn Franquet struck out all six batters she faced to earn the win. She also scored three times. She combined with Reagan Weaver on a no-hitter.

Hepburn-South will play Williamsport Area on Monday at WALL to try and reach the final in this three-team, double-elimination bracket.

Clinton, with players from Clinton and Woolrich leagues and who beat WALL on Thursday, will play the winner of that game Tuesday at Lycoming College.

In the 9-11 tournament, Jersey Shore/GSV defeated East Lycoming, 6-4, and Keystone blanked Montoursville, 13-0.

Keystone took a 2-0 lead after the second inning and scored three in the third to go up, 5-0. It was the fourth inning, however, in which Keystone did most of its damage, scoring eight runs to put the mercy rule into effect and ending the game after just four innings.
