Williamsport Crosscutters lose on road at West Virginia 13-4

The Williamsport Crosscutters fell in the first game of a road series at West Virginia, 13-4. The Black Bears scored seven runs during a two-out second-inning rally and built upon its lead,

Right fielder Sam Crail led West Virginia with four RBIs while three other players had multiple RBIs. Starting pitcher Thomas Gross gave up two earned runs on three hits over five innings for the Black Bears.

The Crosscutters scored one run in both the second and eighth innings, and twice in the fifth. Designated hitter Eddie Niemann III went 2 for 4 with an RBI triple in the fifth inning. Left fielder Logan Flood also had an RBI triple in the eighth inning. Shortstop Josue Urdanetta had a hit and RBI.

The loss drops Williamsport to 10-6. Williamsport is back in action at West Virginia on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
