Crosscutters fall at State College to Spikes 3-2 on Saturday

State College edged Williamsport at home on Saturday night, 3-2, to take game two in the three-game series. Pitching dominated the game as each team’s pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts.

State College loaded the bases on its first three batters, setting up a two-run first inning. Williamsport cut the deficit in half in the second inning with left fielder Logan Flood scoring on a passed ball. The Crosscutters then tied the game in the top of the fifth inning thanks to an RBI double by first baseman Lance Logsdon, scoring shortstop Isaac Nunez.

Logsdon and Flood each had a two-hit performance with Logsdon earning the only RBI. Williamsport struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1 for 9. Williamsport remains in first place in the MLB Draft League despite a 4-10 record on the road this year.

Kiernan Higgins earned the win for the Spikes on the mound and Williamsport’s J.J. Sanchez earned the loss.
