Lycoming men’s soccer blanks Gettysburg
GETTYSBURG — Three Lycoming College men’s soccer players scored to lift the team to a 3-0 non-conference win over Gettysburg College on Tuesday night.
The Warriors (9-5-4 overall) got on the board when junior Christian Woobay was able to control a cross inside the six, dribble while a defender moved past and fired it across the goal line.
Sophomore Zach Thomas set up the next goal with a big throw-in that was touched by the Bullets before it found the feet of first-year Jake Keeney, who corralled it with his back to the goal before turning and firing a shot into the left corner.
Senior Jaedan Asare scored the last goal on a penalty kick in the 89th minute.
Gettysburg (4-7-5 overall) had its best chance in the 77th minute when a shot hit the crossbar and the ball needed to be cleared by the defense.
Freshman Jace Bennett made three saves in the shutout for the Warriors. Leandro Riberio and Sean Kennedy combined for four saves on 16 Lycoming shots.
The Warriors held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks and a 16-9 lead in shots.
The Warriors wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a Landmark Conference game against Elizabethtown College at 3:30 p.m.
