Lock Haven’s Ostrowsky nominated for Harlon Hill Trophy
Lock Haven football record-breaking quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky was announced one of 43 athletes from across the nation to earn a nomination for the 2024 Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the NCAA DII Football Player of the Year.
Ostrowsky, a graduate transfer from Mount Pleasant Michigan, is one of 43 candidates which includes 16 quarterbacks, nine running backs, six wide receivers, four defensive linemen, three defensive backs, two linebackers, a fullback, a return specialist and a kicker.
Ostrowsky, the top statistical quarterback in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), is one of nine nominees from Super Region No. 1.
Ostrowsky finished the 2024 season with 3,203 passing yards, 291.18 passing yards-per-game and 27 passing TDs, all of which led the PSAC. All of those marks also stand as Lock Haven single-season passing records.
The graduate transfer threw for over 200 yards in every game of the season but one, while surpassing the 300-yard mark four times. Ostrowsky completed 31-of-50 passes for 470 yards and four touchdowns in the Bald Eagles’ road battle at Shepherd.
Ostrowsky threw for five touchdowns against Shippensburg, the same game he broke Lock Haven’s single-season passing touchdown record.
Lock Haven finished the season at 5-6 overall after going 3-4 in PSAC East action.
Last season (2023), when Lock Haven won five games, it stood as the Bald Eagles first five-win season in 42 years (1982). Now, The Haven has posted 10 wins in two seasons, the most victories in a two-year stretch since Lock Haven won 11 in 1981 (6) and 1982 (5).
The remarkable turnaround under third-year head coach Dan Mulrooney has earned the Bald Eagles their first two Harlon Hill Trophy nominations in program-history, coming in back-to-back years. Now playing in the National Football League (NFL) for the Vegas Raiders, Chris Collier earned the program’s first nomination following the 2023 season.
The winner of the 2024 award will be announced on Friday, December 20.
The Hill Trophy is named for the late Harlon Hill – the former University of North Alabama standout – who excelled with the Lions from 1950-53 before going on to fame in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.
