MOUNT CARMEL — Milton held a brief lead with 7:56 to go in the first quarter, but Mount Carmel would play typical Red Tornadoes football and cruise from there.

Mount Carmel scored 48 first-half points en route to a 55-26 win against the Black Panthers in the District 4 Class AA quarterfinals on Saturday evening.

Montgomery Fisher had a 17 yard touchdown from Izayah Minum for Milton’s early 6-0 lead. Mount Carmel would score 35-straight points after that. Jaylen Delaney had a 38-yard touchdown run to take a 7-6 lead and Chase Balichick caught a 51-yard touchdown pass from Gavin Marshalek with 5:28 to play in the first quarter to make it a 14-6 Mount Carmel lead.

Cooper Karycki (13 run) and Delaney (nine run) had touchdown runs before Andrew Lukoskie returned a fumble 16 yards for a 35-6 Mount Carmel lead.

Mount Carmel out-gained Milton in total yards, 399-178, and had 317 rushing yards. Delaney ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries and Luke Blessing had 56 yards and a touchdown. Chris Doyle led Milton’s ground game with 43 rushing yards on 14 carries and he had a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Lytle threw for 105 yards for Milton. Marshalek finished with 82 passing yards for the Red Tornadoes.
