Stugart takes over as WAHS softball coach

Williamsport hired Scott Stugart as its new softball coach, taking over after Chase Smith stepped down. Stugart coached in the area for 25 years, including nine as the South Williamsport softball coach.

During his nine years with the Mounties, South qualified for districts seven times and advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2014.

“I am extremely honored to be given this opportunity to lead the Millionaire softball program,” Stugart said. “It will be our goal to not only continue the successful legacy of the Millionaire softball program, but to achieve even greater success for the team, as well as for our student athletes, by fostering a great team culture, a strong work ethic and passion for the sport of softball.”

Stugart was recognized by the Heartland Athletic Conference as a Coach of the Year twice along with twice being named Sun-Gazette Softball Coach of the Year.

He is known for his work developing softball players with their pitching, hitting and fielding skills at all levels, beginning in Little League and continuing through the high school level.

Starting at $2.99/week.
