Central Mountain has nine medalists at Ultimate Warrior; Muncy has 3
Central Mountain saw nine wrestlers reach the podium on Saturday at the 2026 Ultimate Warrior Tournament in West Branch. Among those, senior standout Aiden Kunes took home a gold medal.
Kunes, who recorded his 100th career victory on Friday, earned a 4-1 decision in the championship semifinals at 145 pounds against Bald Eagle Area standout Dawson Lomison to reach the first-place finals.
Once in the championship finals at 145, Kunes made easy work of opponent Greyson Meyer of St Mary’s, winning by decision 9-2. Kunes scored five points in the second period after trailing 1-0, scoring those points on a takedown and nearfall in the final 21 seconds. Kunes scored an escape early in the third period and then had a takedown nearly halfway through the third to take a 9-1 lead and all but ensured the win from there.
At 133 pounds, Patrick Tarantella took home a silver medal. Tarantella earned a 5-3 decision against Richland’s Brady Kostick in the 133 semifinals and in the championship, ran into a tough opponent in Hickory’s Brady Slicker as Slicker won via decision, 10-3.
Central Mountain’s Gavin Heverly (127) took fourth, Hunter Donley (189) took sixth, Hayes Donley (139), Hayes Henry (285) and Mario Serafini (172) all took seventh, and Collin Bauman (121) and Todd Caris (215) took eighth.
Heverly cruised to a convincing 17-2, 4:00 tech fall in the consolations against Garnet Valley’s Peyton Duffy before a third-place final loss to Derry’s Dylan Bateman in a very close contest, 2-1. Heverly lost in the championship semifinals to Muncy’s Gage Swank by decision, 4-1.
Muncy had three wrestlers reach the podium in 127-pound runner-up Gage Swank, 139-pound bronze medalist Chase Boozer and 107-pound seventh-place finisher Gannon Swank.
Gage Swank earned a 4-1 decision win in the championship semifinals against Central Mountain’s Gavin Heverly to advance to the first-place final. There, he suffered an 8-0 major loss to Logan Stewart of Reynolds.
Boozer lost in the championship semifinals at 139 to Bentworth’s Drake McClure in a close contest, 5-3. In the consolation semifinals, Boozer secured a 6-0 decision win against Port Allegeny’s Collin Ramsay. In the third-place match, Boozer pinned HIckory’s Brody Bishop in 4:17.
Gannon Swank lost in the consolation round of four to Hickory’s Garrett Stevenson, 20-6. Gannon Swank rebounded in the seventh-place final though with a 14-3 major win vs. Dylan Kessler of Garnet Valley.
Hughesville saw Kile Hartman take home an eighth-place medal at 160. Hartman lost in the championship quarterfinals to Central York’s Nathaniel Replogle by tech fall, 22-6, 4:59 to drop into the consolations. Hartman beat Garnet Valley’s Joey DiMarino by tech fall, 18-0, 2:21 in the consolations before dropping a 9-0 major decisiont o Canton’s Carson Rockwell. In the seventh-place match, Hartman lost by decision, 4-1, to St. Mary’s Jackson Wehler.
