Another FBI-themed TV series will film in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh will soon be crawling with more fake FBI agents: In addition to Netflix’s currently-filming FBI profiler drama “Mindhunter,” soon Discovery Channel’s scripted, eight-hour limited drama series “Manifesto” will begin filming in Western Pennsylvania.
A Lionsgate production from executive producers Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti (“House of Cards”), “Manifesto” follows FBI profiler Jim “Fitz” Fitzgerald as he gathers intelligence to ultimately bring to justice Ted Kaczynski, aka “the Unabomber.”
No casting for “Manifesto” has been announced but producer/director Greg Yaitanes (“House”) will executive produce, direct and serve as showrunner on the series, which, like “True Detective,” will tell a different story each season.
A job posting for “Manifesto” appeared today on the Pittsburgh Film Office website. A Discovery spokesman said the series is expected to film from late August through November and will likely air sometime in 2017.
“Manifesto” will be the fourth scripted, prime-time series to use Pittsburgh as a home base this year alongside “Mindhunter,” WGN America’s “Outsiders” and ABC comedy “Downward Dog.”
