Shots fired in Williamsport

Williamsport police check for ballistic evidence at Saturday night's shooting scene on Park Avenue. PHIL HOLMES/Sun-Gazette

City police are investigating a shooting that occurred at Park Avenue and Wildwood Boulevard about 7:30 p m. Saturday.

A police officer said that no one was reported injured, and no one has come forward to report that they were the target of the shooting.

No one was in custody.

The initial dispatch said there was a “shooting victim,” but that apparently turned out to be inaccurate.

Police called UPMC Williamsport to see if any gunshot victim suddenly arrived at the ER in a private vehicle. However, no such victim came to the hospital.

A neighbor reported that he heard an argument before gunfire erupted.

“It sounded like two guys arguing and then a woman got involved,” the neighbor, who did not give his name, said.

“She told one of them – they needed to go, they needed to leave – then I heard two shots, pop pop,” the neighbor said.

“All I could hear was  people yelling at one another. I could’t hear what it was about,” the neighbor added.

Anyone one has any information about the shooting is urged to call the watch commander desk  – 570-327-7560 Ext. 2
