Firefighters respond to Old Lycoming Township house fire Sunday morning
Area firefighters responded to a house fire Sunday morning in Old Lycoming Township.
Jerry and Shelly Crist of 183 Grininger Road were not home at the time of the blaze about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, said Joe Hopple, firefighter and director of Emergency Management in the township.
The couple reportedly was attending church when notified at church about the fire, a church member said.
A firefighter was treated and released for a knee injury, and two pets are not accounted for, Hopple said.
There was an initial report of an explosion and the house was heavily involved in fire on arrival of the first engine, he said.
However the cause and any possible explosion will be under investigation by the Old Lycoming Township Fire investigation unit.
Further information will come from police Chief Joe Hope, Hopple said.
