Williamsport woman charged with homicide
City police have arrested and charged an Adams Street woman with criminal homicide and attempted homicide in relation to a Thursday stabbing of her boyfriend and death of an infant.
Corrie Shanikah Cowlay-Saunders, 22, of 344 Adams St. was arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey and bail was denied.
City police are investigating the death of an infant in an Adams Street residence, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.
Kiessling said his office was contacted, as were state police and city police, for the infant death Thursday night.
An autopsy of the infant will be done Saturday, he said.
He declined to identify the gender of the baby.
A Cowlay-Sanders has been arraigned on charges related to a stabbing at 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Franklin Street.
Williamsport police initially responded to the stabbing where they found a victim, whose gender remained unidentified, with a stab wound to either the back or possibly the right side of the neck. The victim was found on the front porch of a home and was having difficulty breathing.
About 20 minutes later, police responded to a vehicle accident scene at the 900 block of Railway Street near the area of Youngs Woods Park.
A woman driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was taken into custody at gunpoint and believed to have been under the influence of either alcohol or drugs.
The woman was arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey who was on call, said an official with District Judge Aaron Biichle Friday morning.
The Sun-Gazette will update with more details as they become available.
