Horse rescued in Anthony Township


UPDATE: The horse was successfully rescued at 12:30 p.m. and vet said the heart rate is good.

Volunteer firefighters and others were working to free a 23-year-old horse trapped in a big fiberglass spring tub in a small body of water on a farm north of Linden on Monday morning.

A frontend loader tractor – along with a assortment of tools – were being used.

Firefighters were called about 11 a.m.

The horse is on the farm of Craig Paulhamus on Stony Gap Road, off of Route 973 in Anthony Township.


While the rescue was taking place, Paulhamus’ granddaughter, Breanna, 18, stayed next to the horse, named, Specs, trying to keep him calm.

The local chapter of the SPCA was at the scene.
