Report of Williamsport stabbing turn out to be bogus
City and state police rushed to the 600 block of Rose Street just before 8 a.m Thursday to investigate a stabbing inside a home.
City firefighters and paramedics also responded to the scene.
A man was handcuffed and briefly placed in the back of a police cruiser, but he was eventually released at the scene.
When it was all over, police determined there was no stabbing, but that it was a fictitious report.
“It appears that the entire call was not valid,” a patrol supervisor said at the scene. “The person who made the call is now the focus of the investigation,” he added.
