Lycoming Regional police chief’s release approved
The Lycoming Regional Police Commission on Wednesday approved a “separation agreement and general release” of Lycoming Regional Police Chief Nathan DeRemer.
The action by the commission was contingent upon review by the commission’s accountant and solicitor.
The motion that was approved differed from an earlier version which called for the commission to consider the “resignation” of the chief and separation agreement and general release.
The earlier motion also called for approving an officer in charge and recording secretary.
DeRemer was not in attendance at the meeting. He (DeRemer) has not yet “stepped down,” said Sean Simcox, commission chairman, to a question at the meeting at the Old Lycoming Township building at 1951 Green Ave.
Department Captain Christopher Kriner was present.
The board had no discussion or comments on the DeRemer motion.
The commission is made up of members from the three charter municipalities, Jersey Shore Borough, Old Lycoming Township and Porter Township.
The department’s 22 officers visit, work, and travel through nine communities. It has partnerships with Jersey Shore Borough, and Old Lycoming, Porter, Lycoming, Hepburn, Nippenose, McHenry, Piatt, and Cummings townships.
DeRemer was appointed chief of police by the commission just prior to the operation date of Jan. 1, 2023.
