Within minutes after striking two parked cars and a utility pole in the 1100 block of Memorial Avenue, Williamsport, about 9:50 a.m. Friday, the man driving this Jeep got in another vehicle and fled, city police said.
“He was all banged up. He had a giant monkey bubble on his head,” Jamie Boucher said of the driver. Boucher owns one of the vehicles that were hit, a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. He heard the crash while inside his home. “I heard a loud bang. I got talking to the guy, but then he got in someone’s car and took off,” Boucher said.
Police alleged he removed the temporary tag to the Jeep before fleeing the scene. “We’re trying to tack him down. We know who he is,” a patrol supervisor said late Friday morning.
The other vehicle struck by the Jeep was a Ford 4×4 pickup truck, police said.
This was the third hit-run crash police investigated in a matter of hours. A parked car in the 1200 block of Franklin Street and another in the 800 block of McMinn Avenue were hit overnight by vehicles whose drivers fled with the vehicles, police said. Investigators believed none of the crashes were connected.
