Homeless man charged with resisting arrest

After his vehicle had been towed to Cochran Automotive at 512 W. Third St. on Jan. 15, David Weidler called the business demanding possession of the car, according to a city police affidavit. “He started yelling and stated he was going to break into (Cochran’s) tow lot,” the court document stated. Weidler, 34, who is homeless, came to the business and spoke with employees in person before leaving, police said. The business called police and gave a description of Weidler, who was spotted in the 500 block of West Fourth Street. When officers ordered him twice to stop, he refused, police alleged. As officers were attempting to detain him, Weidler resisted and had to be taken to the ground, police said. Following his arraignment before Biichle on charges of resisting arrest, evading arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, Weidler was initially jailed in the county prison, but has since been released on $5,000 bail.
