Northumberland County man charged with felony theft

After stealing Scott Huntington’s Subaru Legacy on Walnut Street in Jersey Shore on the night of April 10, Wayne David Thompson drove to a local store, bought some beer and then crashed the car on a Route 220 exit ramp before abandoning the demolished car in the 300 block of North Main Street in the borough, Lycoming Regional police alleged.

Surveillance video also captures Thompson, 38, of Shamokin, removing a bag of tools from a pickup truck parked in a lot on nearby Cherry Alley, police alleged in a court document. Charged with felony theft, theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and a summary offense, Thompson has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Denise Dieter and is free on $25,000 bail.
