Man charged following shooting death of teen
A man is in police custody following a deadly Friday night shooting shortly before 11:30 p.m., according to city police.
Zaire Jones-Wallace, 25, faces charges of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of instruments of crime, a police post to the Crime Watch website.
At 11:19 p.m., city police were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Park Avenue for reports of a victim of a shooting.
Arriving on scene, police observed a large crowd fleeing from the residence, where a 15-year-old male victim with several gunshot wounds to the chest was discovered.
The teen was transported to UPMC Williamsport, but later died of his injuries, according to city police.
Jones-Wallace arrived at a party within the home, and began an argument with a partygoer, which turned physical after he was asked to leave, several witnesses told police, according to the post.
Police were also shown videos of the altercation.
It was during that altercation that Jones-Wallace produced a firearm, firing several shots, and striking the 15-year-old victim twice.
Jones-Wallace later turned himself in, after which he was arraigned on the charges by District Judge Denise Deiter, and denied bail.
Jones-Wallace was remanded to the Lycoming County Prison.
