Two teens injured, one killed in separate Friday night shootings
Two 15-year-olds were shot late Friday night during separate incidents, with one of the teens succumbing to their injuries, city police Corporal Jordan Stoltzfus confirmed to the Sun-Gazette.
Zaire Jones-Wallace, 25, faces charges of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of instruments of crime, for a non-fatal shooting in the 800 block of Park Avenue, according to a police post to the Crime Watch website.
At 11:19 p.m., city police were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Park Avenue for reports of a victim of a shooting.
Arriving on scene, police observed a large crowd fleeing from the residence, where a 15-year-old male victim with several gunshot wounds to the chest was discovered.
The teen was transported to UPMC Williamsport.
Jones-Wallace arrived at a party within the home shortly before 11:19 p.m., and began an argument with a partygoer, which turned physical after he was asked to leave, several witnesses told police, according to the post.
Police were also shown videos of the altercation.
It was during that altercation that Jones-Wallace produced a firearm, firing several shots, and striking the 15-year-old victim twice.
Jones-Wallace later turned himself over to police, after which he was arraigned on the charges by District Judge Denise Deiter, and denied bail.
Jones-Wallace was remanded to the Lycoming County Prison.
While investigating the Park Avenue shooting, police received a separate dispatch for a gunshot victim in the 600 block of First Avenue, according to an additional post to Crime Watch.
Arriving at that location, a 15-year-old victim was found lying on the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower abdomen.
This victim was also transported to UPMC Williamsport for emergency treatment, however, he later succumbed to his wounds, the city police post said.
His identity was not expected to be immediately released, Stoltzfus said.
A suspect in the second shooting has not been identified at this time.
