Muncy Public Library

events to be held

The following events will be held at the Muncy Public Library, 108 S. Main St., Muncy, during the month of November:

Open playtime – 10:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 7. For families with children ages 1 to 6.

Kids Construction Club – 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 16. For children ages 5 and up, and their parents. All materials are provided. Registration required.

Tablets and eReaders-a how-to – 6:30-7:15 p.m. Nov. 17. Sue Mayshok, of the James V. Brown Library, teaches you how to use your device.

Preschool Storytime with Miss Amber – 10:30-11:15 a.m. Nov. 18 and 25. This program helps children develop skills will need when he starts school and is geared for children ages 3.5 to 6 and their parents. Registration required.

Toddler Tales with Miss Victoria – 10-10:45 a.m. Nov. 20 and 27. Helps children develop social skills. For children ages 12 months to 3 1/2 years. Registration required.

St. John/Bethany’s Believers Relay

For Life team to host variety bingo

JERSEY SHORE – The St. John/Bethany’s Believers Relay For Life team will host a variety bingo at noon Nov. 1, at the Elks Lodge, 203 N. Main St. Doors open at noon and bingo will begin at 1 p.m. Prizes include Longaberger baskets, Vera Bradley, Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Silpada Jewelry, Coach and more. Grand prize is a Coach bag with matching wristlet. There also will be door prizes and food.

The Clinton Central Model Railroad

Club to hold fall train meet

MILL HALL – The Clinton Central Model Railroad Club will hold a fall train meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1, at the Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Co, Route 64.

The train meet will include dealers providing new and used model railroad trains and equipment for many different gauges, repair parts and model cars, trucks, old toys and buildings. Complimentary door prizes will be called hourly.

There also will be food provided by club members, railroad videos playing on multiple televisions and a variety of new, used, old and antique model railroad items available. Club items such as hats, patches and decals also will be available.

Income raised by this event will provide future layout expansion, train station maintenance and other projects underway at the club’s home in the former New York Centrail Railroad Station in Castanea.

The Valley Inn to host cancer benefit

The Valley Inn, 204 Valley St., DuBoistown, will host a cancer benefit for Dustin Kistner from noon to 11 p.m. Oct. 24.

The benefit is set up to help raise money to off set medical costs for Kistner, who was diagnosed with stage 3 mixed germ testicular cancer in June.

There will be live music from 13 bands, door prizes, a pig roast, 50/50, a basket raffle with more than 40 baskets, a clown, magic and more. There also will be T-shirts available that were designed by Kistner and his friend.

He is going through chemotherapy, trying to work as much as possible to pay for medical bills and daily living expenses.

Father’s Hope to hold Schwan’s

Frozen Foods fundraiser

Father’s Hope will hold a Schwan’s Frozen Foods fundraiser for 45 days, beginning Nov. 1. When you shop for frozen foods at www.schwans-cares.com/c/23969 and enter in campaign ID No. 23969, 20 percent of your order cost will be donated to Father’s Hope. All purchases will be delivered to your door by Schwan’s.

Father’s Hope is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to orphans and children in need around the world.

The Salvation Army to hold

Operation Safe Surf class

The Salvation Army, 457 Market St., will hold their Operation Safe Surf class from 6-7 p.m. Nov. 2, at the Salvation Army. This program, offered by the Attorney General’s office, is designed to educate teens, parents and schools about the importance of Internet safety and how to protect against predators. This program is for parents or guardians, grandparents, teachers or any adult who provides care for children.

Family Promise to host ‘Tour

of Italy’ to fight homelessness

Family Promise will hold a “Tour of Italy” fundraiser to fight homelessness from 3-5 p.m. Nov. 15, at Cloud 9, Montoursville Airport, 700 Airport Road. The restaurant will serve dishes from northern, central and southern Italy including asiago herb risotto, bruschetta, pasta alfredo, braised chicken, stuffed breads and more. The event also will feature raffle baskets and a silent auction with products donated from local businesses. There is a cost for the event. Tickets must be bought in advance.

Guild to hold meeting

PENNSDALE – The Susquehanna Valley Quilt Guild will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 23, at the Pennsdale United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road. The meeting will feature a lecture and trunk show by Carol Taylor.

to hold ‘Better Together’ walk

The Lycoming-Clinton National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Lycoming County Suicide Coalition will hold “Better Together” on Oct. 18 at Indian Park, pavilion 5, Montoursville. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. and the walk will begin at 2 p.m.

Society to host program

The Lycoming County Genealogical Society will host its program on Pennsylvania German genealogy and history at 1 p.m. Oct. 24, at the Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth St. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for refreshments.

Russel and Corinne Earnest will speak about fraktur in a presentation that includes handouts. The Earnests will emphasize the genealogical value of these special documents, demonstrating the various kinds of fraktur and why family historians seek them out as primary sources.

Harnessing Hope 5K

Run/Walk to be held

HUGHESVILLE – The second Harnessing Hope 5K Run/Walk will be held Oct. 17, at Hughesville High School, 349 Cemetery St. This run/walk is a 3.1 mile loop that includes a stadium finish inside of the Hughesville High School football stadium. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers in five additional age categories.

There is registration fee for this event with discounts available for early registration, which includes a race bib and timing chip, and a race T-shirt while supplies last. Registration also is available for those who are unable to attend, but still wish to support the event.

Proceeds benefit the Paternostro Family Foundation.
