Tractor-trailer fire shuts down Route 15 South
The southbound lanes of Route 15 were temporarily closed when a trailer loaded with bales of hay caught fire, a mile north of the Hepburnville interchange, about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports at the scene. Multiple volunteer fire companies responded, and firefighters had it contained in about 15 minutes. There were no reports of injuries. The truck driver had pulled over and unhooked the trailer after he heard on his CB that his load of hay was on fire. Once it was deemed safe, the trucker hooked the trailer back on and drove it off the highway at Hepburnville, where firefighters continued dousing hotspots. The southbound lanes were re-opened at 6:30 p.m.
