For more than two hours late Saturday afternoon, heavy thick smoke poured from the Lycoming County Resource Management Services landfill on Alexander Drive off of Route 15 in Brady Township as teams of volunteer firefighters and landfill employees worked together to extinguish the very intense fire.
"The employees were great in helping us get this under control," Clinton Township Fire Chief Todd Winder said.
"Without their help, this situation would have been much worse," he added.
The fire broke out about 4:30 p.m. and brought more than a dozen fire companies and 20 landfill employees to the scene before the fire was contained.
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire will go undetermined, Winder said.
