PROVIDED (Montoursville Fire Department) – A driver traveling on I-180 East safely escaped his burning car when it caught fire, just east of the Fairfield Road interchange, about 9:35 a.m. Wednesday. Montoursville firefighters were on the scene very quickly and had the fire extinguished in a matter of minutes. The fire, which originated in the engine compartment, destroyed the car. The eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about 20 minutes. The ruined vehicle was towed from the scene. State police were investigating the incident since the car was moving at the time.
