City doctor meets president

Earlier this month, local doctors Dr. Grace Shu and Dr. Jason Shu, along with Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway and other distinguished luminaries attended a breakfast with President Donald Trump at Cipriani in midtown Manhattan. McDaniel made introductory remarks and introduced Trump to the attendees.

According to a news release, Trump gave an energetic speech and took questions from the audience. Among his speech topics included strengthening the military and tax cuts.

“We got no Democrat help,” Trump said, referring to the Republican tax bill, “and I think that’s going to cost them very big in the midterm election.”

The president also claimed the Republican tax plan simplified and lowered taxes for individuals, corporations and small businesses, the news release said.

Dr. Grace Shu is the chairwoman of the Chinese-American Republican National Federation and minority chair of the Pennsylvania Lycoming County Republican Committee. She headed a delegation of Republicans at the Cipriani event, including Ben Hall, Tao Zhong, Qixiu Chen, Jason Quin, Andrew Lewis, senior officers from Catholic Health Services of Long Island, New York; Dr. Joel Shu; Dr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy and Vivek Taparia. CHS is Long Island’s largest faith-based health care system.

“President Trump works very hard every day to make life better for all Americans,” Dr. Grace Shu said according to the news release. “He is kind and gracious, and we had fun taking photos together.”
