Ruptured steam pipe triggers fire alarm at Loyalsock Township High School

Volunteer firefighters responded to the Loyalsock Township High School at 1801 Loyalsock Drive when a fire alarm was tripped by a ruptured steam pipe about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to fire officials.

Some in the school initially mistook the steam for smoke, officials said, adding that there was no fire. Employees from the school’s maintenance department shut off the water to the pipe and were cleaning up the damage.

The incident had no impact on extracurricular activites being held at the school Thursday night and all classes were to resume today.
