One driver injured in crash on Route 220 at Jersey Shore

JERSEY SHORE – A woman was injured in a fiery three-vehicle crash that occurred at the Thomas Street interchange of Route 220 early Thursday morning, according to the Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.

The accident shut down the northbound lanes of the highway for about 30 minutes.

Ardena Cathcart, 65, of Jersey Shore, was slowing down to enter the northbound lanes of Route 220 from the Thomas Street on-ramp when her car was struck from behind by a Subaru Impreza driven by Jeremiah Stark, of Jersey Shore, police said.

As the impact pushed Cathcart’s car out into the northbound lanes, her vehicle struck the right rear of a pickup truck driven by Jason Renzo, of Lock Haven, who was northbound on Route 220. The collision caused the truck to go into a spin, police said.

Stark’s car caught fire and was engulfed in flames when police and Jersey Shore volunteer firefighters arrived on the scene. He was not injured.

Cathcart was taken by ambulance to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center to be treated for her injuries, police said.
