When the brakes failed on her husband's Chevrolet Tahoe, passenger Marjorie Peterson, 57, bailed out of the SUV, shown above, seconds before it hit a curb, went airborne, careened down a hill and struck two trees just west of Rural Avenue and Cemetery Street near the city-Loyalsock Township line about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to state police. Peterson and her husband, Vincent, 51, of Williamsport, declined treatment for minor injuries, police said. Township volunteer firefighters responded to the crash.
