Police from multiple area departments responded to a dispatch of a possible robbery and shooting at around 9:10 p.m. Sunday at a convenience store at 1944 W. Fourth St., in the city's West End.
According to various emergency communications, six shots were fired from a handgun, resulting in a possible two victims, both reported as taken to UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical center, according to county dispatch.
Police from various local departments, including Old Lycoming Township and South Williamsport, as well as city and state police, had the area secured while they conducted a search for the suspect, who was still believed to be in the area following the incident as of presstime.
Although traffic on the stretch of West Fourth Street entering Newberry was still open, police had the perimeter around the store secured while other officers were diligently searching the scene and were not able to comment Sunday night. More details will be released as they become available.
