MUNCY -- A local chiropractor has offered to provide maintenance to high school football players free of charge.
Brandon Cotner has offered voluntary chiropractic service for student football athletes, a program done in nearby East Lycoming School District.
Cotner provided information and a presentation to the Muncy School Board Monday night.
The sessions would be one day a week, he said.
Students over age 18 must sign consent forms while those younger need to fill out a different form that provides their parents' signatures, he said.
Currently, Cotner said he would be able to work with athletes playing football due to his hefty work schedule. But he added he might be able to incorporate other athletes "down the road."
"I played football," he said. "It is my passion."
The board didn't vote on the issue.
In other discussion, the concession stand to be operated by the Muncy Music Association is nearly complete. The concrete is poured, the stone ordered, the roof on and electrical is getting finished, an association spokesman said.
Scott McLean, board president, noted how the association has helped to contribute to the increasing number of band members.
Michael Buck, the band director, was lauded for that growth, shown in the fact the band having to buy 10 more uniforms.
Students with Melissa Wertman, the fall play director, showed off the trophy they won at the most recent Ray of Light Awards at the Community Arts Center.
The school took the trophy for the Best Large Scale Play or Production with its "Little Princess" performance.
Superintendent Craig Skaluba said he would update the public on the high school construction project overseen by Reynolds Construction Mangement Inc. next week. The updates are on the school website.
Meetings with the board continue to be held at Ward L. Myers Elementary School cafetorium while the high school is under construction. An executive session on a personnel matter was held but the board did not reconvene.
