MORRIS -- State police are investigating the cause of death of a tractor-trailer driver whose vehicle went off Route 287, near the Tioga County line Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. in Cogan House Township.
Morris Volunteer Fire Department responded. A firefighter there said the vehicle went off the road and up an embankment and came back down to rest on the guiderail.
"It was believed the driver suffered some sort of medical incident," the firefighter said.
Later, Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. said he responded to the scene.
Kiessling said he believed the accident was not severe enough to result in the driver's death unless he suffered a medical problem.
Kiessling said the driver was not from Lycoming County and he was trying to notify the family before releasing his name.
State police responded to investigate and the road remained closed for several hours as the wreckage was cleared and state Department of Transportation also was notified of the crash.
The clean-up and investigation into the fatality required traffic to be controlled as the incident was cleared.
A fast moving cell of thunderstorms also were in the county about the time of the incident.
Departments and emergency units responding included Morris (Station 15), and Jersey Shore, according to a dispatcher reached later at the Lycoming County 911 Center.
