BLOOMSBURG -- Both passengers injured in the helicopter crash at the Bloomsburg Fair Saturday were from the Williamsport area, according to borough police.
Jennifer S. Zielewicz, 42, of Trout Run, and Maria V. Portalatin, 33, of Williamsport, were taken to the nearby Geisinger Hospital after about 7:30 p.m on the fair's last day, when a tour helicopter crashed in a parking area.
A third person injured, the pilot, was Kenneth Cordrey, of Delaware. Cordrey was first brought to the hospital in critical condition. Nurses later told WNEP-TV that he was stable.
Late Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration announced an investigation. The agency has yet to announce their findings about what may have caused the helicopter to crash.
Several vehicles were damaged with flying debris from the failing Enstrom F28F.
Bloomsburg Fair officials told WNEP-TV that they'll consider banning the Helicopter tours.
"My recommendation is that we do not bring any more aircraft back to the Bloomsburg Fair. Two times, third could be a disaster," said Paul Reichart, Bloomsburg Fair president, referring to the 2013 incident of a pilot who was struck dead by a blade on the fairgrounds.
