Nurse Kristy Bonnell and her son, Donald "Bubba" Bonnell, an employee at Construction Specialties, were left homeless after a multiple-alarm fire ripped through their house on Snaurytown Road, off of Route 54, in Clinton Township late Thursday afternoon. Neither one was home when neighbors discovered the fire about 5:15 p.m. and went into the house and rescued the family dog. "It was just burning in the attic when we went in," the neighbor said. Township Fire Chief Todd Winder said when he arrived, the entire home was engulfed in flames. Extra tankers from several communities were dispatched to the scene. The local chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting the Bonnells, and a state police fire marshal was leading the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire.
