Robert Graydon Merrill, 88, of 1106 Sulphur Run Road, Jersey Shore, Pa., went to be with his Lord, Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, after a short stay at the Jersey Shore Manor Care Home.
He was born April 13, 1930, in Pine Creek Township, Clinton County, the son of the late C. Alton and E. Luella Merrill.
He was married to the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Walizer) Merrill, for 42 years. She preceded him in death in 1991.
Bob was an active member of the Lock Haven Citizens Hose Volunteer Fire Company for many years.
He had worked 12 years at Sohmer's Market on Bellefonte Avenue and 12 years at the Clinton Paper Company. His last working endeavor was at the Woolrich Woolen Mill doing maintenance at the various plants and painted the company houses in Woolrich for about 12 years. He retired in 1991.
He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Glacier National Park. In his earlier years he relished camping, trout fishing and hunting.
Bob was a member of the Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church and recently attended the Mountain View Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Jersey Shore.
He enjoyed participating in activities at the Lock Haven Senior Center besides going to church.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Diana) Merrill Jr., of Jersey Shore; his sister, Harriet Smith, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; two sister-in-laws, Elsie Shay and Betty Merrill, both of Jersey Shore; a granddaughter, Laurie Merrill, of Lock Haven; a grandson, Nathan (Jeannette) Merrill, of East Northport, N.Y.; and two darling great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madelyn. Also, he leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Duane, Fern Carson, Roma Zener, Edith Zinck and Jerry.
Relatives and friends are invited to Robert's Life Celebration Memorial Service on Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Jersey Shore C&MA Church, 1515 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745, with a Citizen's Hose Fireman's Service beginning at 7:45 p.m. Additional time to view will be made available at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made through the funeral home to either the Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church or Jersey Shore Mountain Alliance Church.
