Local roundup: South clinches berth in district duals

South Williamsport clinched a spot in the District 4 Class AA Duals with a 34-28 win over Southern Columbia on Thursday night.

Montgomery received falls from Kyle Drick (106), Kobe Galentine (120), Nicholas Buckle (126) and Dominic Galanti (152) during a 60-18 win over Loyalsock.

Montoursville’s Garrett Hoffman won a 3-1 overtime decision against Hughesville’s Dakota Nixon, helping the Warriors edge the Spartans, 36-30.

North?Penn picked up four first-period falls and defeated Athens, 53-24.

Milton’s Ryan Solomon celebrated senior night with the fastest fall of his high school career, a 7-second effort over Midd-West’s Kyle Fawver at 195 pounds, but the Mustangs won key decisions at 120, 126 and 160 and earned a 39-27 win.

Williamsport’s Roshaun Cooley had a fall at 113 pounds and Billy Kennedy a major decision at 220, but the Millionaires fell at Shikellamy, 56-10.

Jersey Shore enjoyed a 62-18 blowout victory over Selinsgrove. Austin White led the Bulldogs, winning his match by fall in 34 seconds.

Pins by Nick Roberts (220)?and Skylar Ebner (195) were the bookend victories during Muncy’s 56-21 win over Sullivan County.

In college wrestling, Lycoming took four matches by decision and held a three-point lead after seven bouts, but King’s rallied with three consecutive wins to wrap up a 21-12 win.

In girls basketball, Montgomery’s Corrine Shaffer scored a career-high 24 points and the Red Raiders defeated Bucktail, 57-44.

Williamson’s Kim Daugherty and Lori Horton each scored 20 points and the Warriors defeated Galeton, 55-43.

Wellsboro scored 20 fourth-quarter points to help seal a 58-47 victory over Liberty. Mackenzie Marple led the Green Hornets with 21 points.

Mansfield beat North Penn 46-38 behind Molly Wood, who scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and added seven steals.

In women’s basketball, Penn College fell in overtime to Penn State Brandywine, 94-88. Jamie Steer scored a career-high 33 points for the Wildcats.

In men’s basketball, Penn College’s Scott Fenton scored 11 points but the Wildcats fell to PSU Brandywine, 92-52.
