Local roundup: Loyalsock tops Lewisburg in girls tennis

In girls tennis, Katie Savidge at No. 1 singles and Melina Vuocolo at No. 3 singles each won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Loyalsock to a 4-1 win over Lewisburg.

Sienna Tolomay earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles and Abigail Patel and Lea Jabbour teamed up for a 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 1 doubles for Loyalsock. Becca Brown and Bekah Vance earned Lewisburg's lone win at No. 2 doubles with a three-set win.

Olivia Dorner, Lily Summerson and Lauren Peck all picked up wins in singles play to lead South Williamsport to a 3-2 win over Montoursville.

Sarah Rothmell picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles to lead Bucktail to a 5-2 win over North Penn-Liberty.

Hughesville swept both matches in doubles play to capture a 4-1 victory over Danville.

Montgomery stayed red hot to improve to 10-1 on the year with a 3-2 victory over Jersey Shore.

• In boys soccer, Tom Pombor totaled a goal and three assists to lead Williamsport to a 4-0 win over Mifflinburg.

South Williamsport's Quaid Molino had three assists to three different teammates, but Benton scored three unanswered goals in the final 27 minutes to take a 4-3 win.

Nick Trevouledes posted his second consecutive hat-trick, including two scores in the first half, to lead Hughesville to a 4-0 win over Bloomsburg.

Collin Smith and Connor Sassano scored first-half goals to lead Muncy past North Penn/Liberty, 2-1.

Tyrese and Alex Hazzoum each scored twice to lead Warrior Run to a 5-0 win over Shamokin.

• In girls soccer, Taylor Flemming scored in each half to lead Jersey Shore to a 2-1 win over Wellsboro. Hannah Kauffman made four saves for the Bulldogs and Kerrah Clymer scored Wellsboro's lone goal.

Aleaha Bigelow and Josephine Benamati each scored and Rebecca Dgien earned the shutout as Muncy defeated North Penn-Mansfield.

Lewisburg scored two goals in each half to power past Shamokin 4-0.

• In girls volleyball, Karmen Short had 11 points, six aces, six digs and two kills to lead Cowanesque Valley to a 3-0 win over Williamsport.

• After scoring two game-winning goals to help extend the No. 20 Lycoming College men's soccer team's winning streak to six games, freshman Colin Wieand was named MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week.

• Penn College totaled 318 to win the Penn State Hazelton Invitational at the Valley Country Club and Brian Wheelan topped the field with 76.

Ned Baumbach and Austin Moscariello both fired 80s for Penn College, Tyler Haynes signed for 82 and Tyler Marks finished with 90.

• In boys cross country, Corbin Green ran a time of 19:02.12 for Central Mountain to crack the top ten of the 5000 meter run at Bloomsburg University. The race showcased Danville, Montoursville, Central Columbia, Central Mountain, and Bloomsburg.

• In girls cross country, Raya Pauling of Montoursville (22:18.52), and Christina Lugg of Central Mountain (22:33.27) finished in the top ten 5000 meter run at Bloomsburg University. The race showcased Danville, Montoursville, Central Columbia, Central Mountain, and Bloomsburg.
