Cutters down Batavia for 4th straight win
BATAVIA, N.Y. — The Crosscutters extended their longest winning streak of the season to four games with a 7-0 win at Batavia on Saturday to sweep the road series with the Muckdogs.
The finale of the series is today at 5:05 p.m. The Crosscutters are off Monday then have a three-game road trip to Connecticut.
Williamsprot returns to Bowman Field on Friday, Aug. 2, against Brooklyn.
The Crosscutters collected 12 hits in the win and led 2-0 after the second inning and quickly added another run in the top of the third.
In the second inning, the Crosscutters got on the scoreboard when Rudy Rott singled to center to bring in Juan Aparicio for the first run of the game.
Williamsport increased its lead to 3-0 in the third with a home run by Kendall Simmons, his third of the year.
Aparicio hit a double and triple for Williamsport and Logan O’Hoppe hit his 11th double.
Batavia’s batters struggled attempting to hit Williamsport’s pitching staff as the Muckdogs collected just five hits. Adam Leverett earned the win, throwing four innings and scattering three hits. Junior Tejada threw four innings as well.
