The woman, whose identity was not released, was the only one in the vehicle.

The car was totally destroyed by the fire, which was smoldering when Nisbet firefighters arrived on the scene in Susquehanna Township about 3:15 a.m. DuBoistown firefighters also were dispatched to the fire.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was taken to the forensics center at UPMC Williamsport, Ross said.

The fire was not the result of a car crash, he said.

State police are leading the investigation.

Ross said the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office will not release any more details about the death at this time.
