MONTGOMERY – Motorist on Route 405 traveling toward the Lycoming-Northumberland county line use extreme caution as emergency crews are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash which occurred about 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
The two-lane state road was open, but traffic was down to one lane.
The vehicle was traveling south and plunged 30-40 feet over an embankment, landing on its roof, state police said.
Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. was on the scene as firefighters worked to extricate the driver, who was the only occupant, from the car, police said.
The crash occurred just inside Lycoming County, about 50 feet from the county line.
Firefighters from Montgomery, Clinton Township, Warrior Run Area and Muncy Area were on the scene.
