Crosscutters beat West Virginia on the road 12-2

Moving into the final two weeks of the MLB Draft League season and with the MLB Draft League championship game on the horizon, the Williamsport Crosscutters showed they could be peaking at the right time as they took the middle game of this series against the West Virginia Black Bears, 12-2, on the road.

James McCoy took the lead on a 12-hit night for the offense with a 2 for 3 effort that included his 16th double, his ninth home run, two walks, three runs scored and five RBIs. It brought his total for the season to 45. Not to be outmatched by McCoy, Matthew Williams also picked up his ninth home run of the year, coming in the next at-bat after McCoy's home run.

History was also made by Chris Stanfield as he stole two bases to bring his season total to 37, breaking the MLB Draft League record of 36 that was held by Trenton's Aaron Whitley (2025) and Fredericks' Trey Lipsey (2025).

David Case improved to 4-2 on the mound with his five inning win in the start, blanking the Black Bears and allowing just two hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Tyler Muscar and Kenney Fabian split the final four innings in a non-save situation.
