Local roundup: Lewisburg boys defeat Milton, 3-1

Lewisburg defeated Milton, 3-1, to improve to 14-1-1. The two were tied at halftime as Carter Lilley put in an equalizer after Philip Permyashkin scored on an Alfred Romano assist to make it a 1-0 lead.

Permyashkin and Romano both scored second-half goals in a four-minute span to make it a two-goal lead. Lewisburg out-shot Milton, 6-4, as Tony Burns had three saves.

Southern Columbia scored a goal just 17 seconds into overtime to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 win against Muncy in boys soccer. Eli Slamka had 18 saves for the Indians (7-8).

Warrior Run defeated Hughesville, 3-0, as Luke Mattison and Judah Kennel both scored. The Spartans were held to just four shots on goal.

Montoursville beat Wellsboro in double overtime, 2-1. Gavin Hawley scored in overtime with an assist by Dominick Pulizzi in the 94th minute.

Montgomery defeated Lourdes, 3-0, as Hunter Leet, Dolson Smith and Owen Sherman all scored. Gabe McNear and Smith each added assists as well.

“It was great to send off our seniors, Hunter Leet and Bradyn Foresman, with a win in their last high school game,” Montgomery coach Mike Sherman said. “They have been instrumental in bringing the program back to the school district for our underclassmen. Hunter and Bradyn provided leadership throughout the season and their departure will leave the team with holes to fill next year.”

Josh Alvarez had 10 saves for his first career shutout.

• Muncy blanked Montgomery, 6-0, thanks to Emilie Nagel and Cierra Charles both scoring two goals apiece. The schools played two 30-minute halves. Muncy held a 32-0 shots on goal advantage against the Red Raiders.

• Williamsport defeated Towanda, 3-1 (25-13, 25-17, 22-25, 25-11) in girls volleyball. Elise Berthold had 15 kills and Johanna Baker had an impressive 40 assists. Aubrey Glosser led Williamsport with 24 points and Erika Haag and Caitlin Bacon each had 17 points.

Galeton beat Smethport, 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-23). Alli Macensky had 13 kills and six digs. Lauren Sauley led the team with 14 assists and 10 digs and Eve Cole had seven digs.

• The Mansfield University women's soccer team fell to East Stroudsburg University, 2-0 in PSAC East action.

Senior Stephanie Moir made a game-high six saves for Mansfield. Sophomore Taylar Luckenbill finished with two shots on goal.

• Sophomore Riley Kleinfelter made two defensive saves and sophomore August Lewis recorded 12 saves to lead the Mansfield University field hockey team, but Kutztown University scored the lone goal, 1-0.

• In men's soccer, Lycoming fell to Misericordia, 1-0. Sophomores Obiazie Chinatu and Joe Bamfo led the Warriors with two shots each as Lycoming outshot the Cougars, 14-6.
