Local roundup: Wellsboro’s Jack Poirier scores 50th goal in win over N.P.-Liberty

PHOTO PROVIDED Wellsboro's Jack Poirier scored his 50th and 51st career goals in Wellsboro's 2-1 win against North Penn-Liberty on Thursday afternoon.

In boys soccer, Jack Poirier scored twice to help Wellsboro defeat North Penn-Liberty, 2-1. Caiden Alexander scored the lone goal for the Mounties in the second half to cut the deficit to one.

Poirier recorded his 50th and 51st goals in the process.

“Jack’s milestone 50th and 51st career goals were the difference for us tonight,” Wellsboro coach Todd Fitch said. “Credit to N.P.-Liberty for preventing us from settling into the match.”

Lewisburg didn’t allow a single shot on goal as the Green Dragons beat Central Columbia, 3-0. Philip Permyashkin, Zach Kreisher and Evan Hopkinson all recorded goals.

Carter Lilley scored twice to help Milton defeat Danville, 3-1. PJ Cera scored for the Ironmen on a penalty kick to cut the deficit to one in the 46th minute, but Lilley scored in the 62nd minute to make it a two-goal lead.

Montoursville defeated Bloomsburg, 4-1, thanks to two goals from Dominick Pulizzi. Pulizzi scored both in the first half and Wyatt Fry and Mason Winslow each scored in the second half.

• Olivia Casella scored in the 51st minute to tie the game for South Williamsport in girls soccer, and McKaye Wilton came up big, scoring the game winner in double overtime in South's 2-1 thrilling win against Muncy in a Mid-Penn contest.

Emilie Nagel scored the game's first goal off an assist by Mia Edkin in the 29th minute.

Sarah Dgien had 15 saves for the Indians.

Jersey Shore's Harmony Waxmunsky scored the game winner in double overtime to lift the Bulldogs to a win against Troy, 2-1. Emma Kauffman scored Jersey Shore's goal in regulation a minute into the game.

Lydia Earnest scored twice and five others added goals in Montoursville's 7-0 win against Line Mountain. The Warriors limited the Eagles to just two shots on goal as Montoursville fired 20.

Shikellamy defeated Warrior Run, 4-2, thanks to scoring three second-half goals. Maggie Sheets and Amaya Bower both scored for the Defenders.

• Galeton defeated Otto-Eldred, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22). Johanna Dickerson had 11 digs and 10 assists. Olivia Rohrbaugh led the team with 20 digs and Lauren Sauley added 18 and nine assists. Eve Cole had seven digs.

The win improves Galeton to 12-3.

North Penn-Liberty beat Athens, 3-0 (25-6, 25-20, 25-19). Aubrey Pequignot had 22 assists and 13 digs. Darby Stetter had 15 kills and 20 digs, and Megan Spohn added 10 assists and three aces.

Payton Chapel had six kills and a block, and Emerald Walker had six kills and a block.

• In women's soccer, Loyalsock graduate Juliana Cruz scored for California in a 2-0 win against Clarion.
