The Lock Haven University volleyball team dropped a road match with Shippensburg University, 3-0, (25-19, 25-19 & 25-18) in PSAC Eastern Division action
Shippensburg picked up the first two set wins by the identical 25-19 score and collected 15 and 13 kills in each. The Raiders picked up the match-ending third set win 25-18 behind a .241 hitting percentage.
Grace Hugar paced the LHU offense and notched a match-high 11 kills. Hugar also added seven digs along with one service ace.
Regan Happ led the Bald Eagles and was tied for the match-high with 14 digs. Ella McBride chipped in seven digs of her own.
Lock Haven’s swim team fell to California (Pa.), 134-93, in a PSAC dual meet.
Lauren Mummert secured another win this season, with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.72. Later in the meet, Mummert picked up her second win of the day in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:28.45.
In the 50-yard butterfly, Sol Asparria, Loana Herrera-Tapia and Espefani Soto swept the top three spots for the Bald Eagles with times of 29.42, 31.66 and 34.01, respectively.
Madison Griffin and Sara Bobb claimed the top-two spots in the 500-yard freestyle in another strong race for LHU.
Griffin took the victory with a time of 5:59.46, while Bobb finished with a time of 6:52.50.
In the first team double dual-meet of the season, senior Jake Booth and junior Katherine Brown led the Lycoming College men's and women's swim team in event wins, as the men defeated Hood College, 166-76, but fell to Misericordia University, 138-116, and the women fell to Misercordia, 183-64, and Hood, 125-89.
Booth won three events to lead the men's team, taking home his first victory of the day in the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of 1:50.50. He also won the 200-yard backstroke at 2:03.34 and the 500-yard freestyle race with a final time of 5:04.57.
Sophomores Carter Branigan and C.J. Zortman took home individual wins as well, with Branigan winning the 200-yard butterfly at 2:04.76 and the 100-yard butterfly at 54.92. Zortman's 59.07 time won the 100-yard backstroke.
The Lock Haven University men's cross country team hosted the 2021 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region championships and standout Gage Krall led the way for the Bald Eagles as he ran to All-Region status.
Krall finished 15th out of 157 total runners after covering the 10K course in 31:44.3.
Milton graduate Tanner Walter finished 49th overall (scored 48th) with a time of 33:04.3.
Chris Hine, John Davern and Ethan Rogers rounded out LHU's top-five finishers today.
On the women’s side, the front-running Bald Eagle duo of Cadie Kiser and Morgan Perry powered Lock Haven to a fifth-place finish in the team standings.
Both Kiser and Perry earned All-Region honors after the two helped Lock Haven placed fifth out of 22 total scoring teams at the NCAA regional championships today.
Kiser finished 11th after covering the 6K course in 21:50.7 and Perry was 13th with a time of 22:05.6.
For Kiser, it marked the fourth time in her career where she ran to All-Region honors, becoming just the second woman runner in school history to do so and the first since Lindsey Lambert (2008-11).
Mansfield’s men’s and women’s teams recorded 12 personal bests at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships. Freshman David Wooten led the Mansfield men with a time of 34:37.70 to take 96th. Freshmen Isaac Showers and Seth Neil, and sophomore Abraham Calderon, packed together to finish 119th, 123rd and 128th, respectively.
Aneisa Dodson led the women in the 6K race with a time of 22:4.20 to take 32nd. Junior Carley Daniels notched a top-50 finish, concluding wtih a PR of 24:14.30.
Sophomores Bailey Morgan and Angie Colon bettered their LHU times from earlier this season with times of 24:44.60 and 24:44.60 to take 104th and 113th, respectively.
The Mansfield University sprint football team fell to Caldwell University, 51-6, in Collegiate Sprint Football League North action.
The Mounties honored seniors Eugene Haynes, Deundray Andrews, Robert Jackson, Chase Moser, Brandon Dejesus, Kayin Berger, Joey Delgardo, Shaquan Jones, Tim Banks, Jason Reed, Holden Meyers, Paige Whitfield, Conlin Wysocki and Dylan Beebe prior to the start of the contest for their contributions to the sprint football program and Mansfield University.
The Mounties fall to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the CSFL North, while the Cougars improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference to secure second-place behind Army West Point.
On the afternoon, the Mounties bit themselves in the foot with 11 turnovers, six coming through the air and three on the ground. Five of the Mountaineers' first six drives ended in a turnover, resulting in 28 Caldwell points.
Sophomore Emily Smith scored the golden goal in the second minute of overtime off an assist from sophomore Bailey Dockman to lead the Mansfield University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over PSAC Eastern Division foe Lock Haven in the regular season finale.
The Mountaineers honored seniors Meghan Noone and Stephanie Moir for their contributions to Mansfield University and the women's soccer program. The duo helped power the Mountaineer defense to their second shutout on the season.

The Lock Haven University men's soccer team ended the 2021 regular season with flair, downing Shippensburg, 3-1, in a PSAC Eastern Division contest.
Just hours after knocking home two extra points as the kicker for the LHU football team, Samuel Hershey got the Bald Eagles started in the 20th minute with a header goal off a cross from Colton Swanson. The freshman dual-sport sensation's 13th goal this season gave LHU the 1-0 lead until the Raiders Kyle Willworth converted a penalty kick in the 25th minute to knot the game up at 1-1.
Penn College finished 13th in college wrestling at the Ned McGInley Invitational at King’s COllege. At 125 pounds, CJ Trimber picked up his first collegiate win in his first match with a 14-4 major decision against Scranton’s Matthew Gatto. Ryan Berstler also picked up a win against a Scranton opponent with a 10-3 decision vs. Matthew Digennaro.
