The Lock Haven University men's basketball team opened its season with a 75-70 win over visiting Nyack College on Tuesday night.
The Bald Eagles and Warriors were in a close battle throughout the game and Nyack took a slender 37-35 lead into the break. Powered by 60% shooting from the field in the second half, the Bald Eagles held the lead for most of the second half and closed out the 75-70 win.
MarkAnthony Fidelis paced all players and racked up 23 points on 9-16 from the field, including three made from beyond the arc. Fidelis also handed out four assists.
The Lock Haven University women's basketball team defeated Frostburg State University, 63-56, in the regular season-opener for the Bald Eagles.
Lock Haven trailed in the first quarter, but jumped out to a hot start in the second and outscored FSU 51-41 over the next three quarters. In total, four LHU players scored double-digit points for the Bald Eagles. Lock Haven scored 20 points in the paint and got a 17-point contribution from the bench.
Brooke Lawyer and Adaliz Corbin paced the offense for Lock Haven, dropping 17 points each. They both added four rebounds.
