Lycoming lost to Widener, 17-0, in a Middle Atlantic Conference road contest on Saturday in college football.
The loss drops Lycoming to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the MAC. Widener is now 7-2, 5-2 in the MAC.
Widener held a narrow 3-0 lead at halftime.
James Gillespie had a 23-yard touchdown reception from Triston Harris with 7:09 to play in the third quarter to give Widener a 10-0 lead. Gillespie then caught another touchdown pass — this time from 53 yards out — from Harris to extend Widener’s lead to 17-0 with just 5:42 to play in the game.
Jersey Shore graduate Elijah Shemory finished the game with 105 passing yards while Harris had 252.
Lycoming’s run game struggled to get established as Jersey Shore had just 47 rushing yards total on 28 carries. Jacob Fimbres led the Warriors with 26 yards on three carries. Tahir Cruse led Widener with 51 rushing yards.
Kevin Krwaczyk had a team-high 57 receiving yards for Lycoming on four catches. Gillespie was Harris’s favorite target, catching six passes for 147 yards and both touchdowns.
Hunter Campbell had an interception for Lycoming. Sam Pittsman led the Warriors with eight total tackles — eight solo — and Cole Senior had nine total tackles. Both Campbell and Coleman Witherite had eight.
Zakrewski and Jersey Shore graduate David Tomb each recorded a sack.
