Sprinkled Sweet, located at 349 Pine St., is a woman-owned, small business that has something for everyone.
Aimee Hertwig, owner, opened her doors to the public on April 22, 2015. Sprinkled Sweet has been serving the public in downtown Williamsport for eight years while being located in "the best spot," according to Hertwig.
Ranging from cake pops to cheesecakes, brownies to cookies, Italian cannolis to crumb bars and homemade artisan ice creams, Hertwig uses her knowledge and creativity weekly by having a variety of treats and flavors for customers who walk into her shop. There are traditional flavors of desserts that everyone knows and loves, but also flavors that will come to special events this summer.
After graduating from Central Mountain High School in 2006, Hertwig left to attend the Culinary Institute of America in New York. She soon graduated with her associate degree in 2007 and later, got her bachelor's degree in business. Hertwig worked as a manager at The Brickyard Restaurant and Ale House from 2012 to 2015 before opening her own shop in the heart of Williamsport. Sprinkled Sweet is a family affair as you can often see Hertwig working with her mother, Lisa, as well as her two children in the summer months.
Hertwig also offers an internship program. Hertwig began her program shortly after opening in 2016. She is currently on her fifth internship at the shop, Chloe Harris, who is a Pennsylvania College of Technology baking and pastry arts student.
"Being part of the community is very important to me," Hertwig said. "I wanted to share my knowledge with others."
During the time of 240 hours, interns will learn how to bake in the back of the shop, placing front items in the display cases as well as communicating with patrons that come into the bakery.
"Experience is everything," Harris said. "Nothing can replicate first-hand learning and in-person experiences. It's cool to see what I've been learning in a real world setting."
Hertwig stated that she likes to keep her interns around as employees if they choose to stay in the area.
Sprinkled Sweet will be attending multiple events this summer around the community. Hertwig states that flavors will be available that correspond with each event, allowing guests to enjoy limited time options.
Sprinkled Sweet will be attending the Pine Square Block party to share their treats with the community on Saturday, July 22.

Sprinkled Sweet is closed on Mondays, but open Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, noon to 9 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday noon to 10 p.m.
